Hike #6: June 22 Oakham to Carter & Stevens Farm in Barre

We have two options for this day. We can do a 10.4 mi hike straight to the Farm stand or if the weather is nice and we feel like it we can make it a 11.8 mile walk and incorporate the Ware River Rail Trail. Hmmm. Hard to decide..

Both Routes begin on the Midstate Trail..
1. From Long Pond Lean To Shelter continue north on hiking path 1.0 mi
2. Cross Crawford St. (paved) and enter Rutland State Park 0.6 mi
3. Cross RT. 122 0.6 mi
4. Cross Whitehall Rd. 1.4 mi
5. Pass through a metal gate and under a power line 0.4 mi
6. Follow Pine Rd. on the left to RT 122 about 1.0 mi
7. Turn right onto RT 122 Approximately 5 miles at this point

OPTION 1 - shorter/ faster
8.Head northwest on MA-122 N/Worcester Rd toward Coldbrook Rd Destination will be on the right0.7 mi
9.Head southwest on MA-122 N/Worcester Rd toward Old Worcester Rd13 ft
10.Turn right onto Old Worcester Rd302 ft
11.Turn left to stay on Old Worcester Rd0.6 mi
12.Turn left onto Old Coldbrook Rd2.2 mi
13.Turn right onto James St0.7 mi
14.Turn left onto Barre Rd0.2 mi
15.Turn left onto MA-122 N/MA-32 N/Barre Rd/Summer St/West St Continue to follow MA-122 N/MA-32 N/Barre Rd/West St Destination will be on the right0.9 mi

Approximately 10.4 miles Total


OPTION 2- Utilizes Ware River Rail Trail

13.Turn right onto MA-122 N/Worcester Rd0.7 mi
14.Turn right onto Old Worcester Rd302 ft
15.Turn left to stay on Old Worcester Rd171 ft
16.Slight right onto Ware River Rail-Trail1.7 mi
17.Turn left onto Covered Bridge Rd269 ft
18.Turn right onto Granger Rd0.3 mi
19.Turn left onto Cummings Rd0.5 mi
20.Turn right to stay on Cummings Rd0.2 mi
21.Turn left onto MA-62 W/Hubbardston Rd Continue to follow MA-62 W2.3 mi
22.Turn left onto South St121 ft
23.Turn right onto Barre Rd0.2 mi
24.Turn left onto MA-122 N/MA-32 N/Barre Rd/Summer St/West St Continue to follow MA-122 N/MA-32 N/Barre Rd/West St Destination will be on the right0.9 mi
